At Optima we firmly believe in the positive benefits of Physiotherapy. We pride ourselves on getting to the root of the problem, not just treating the symptoms. Our approach is professional and friendly and we're committed to helping our patients get back to doing the things that they enjoy doing.

My career began over 30 years ago in London where I initially worked as a Personal Trainer and Fitness Manager, working at several of the City’s top Health Clubs. During this time, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with a broad range of clients from complete beginners to elite level athletes. Often, clients were exercising to overcome injury or were hindered in their performance because of it. It was largely as a result of this that I developed a real interest not just in the results but also in the rehabilitation journey of my clients.

After relocating to Yorkshire during the early part of my career I studied for a Sports Therapy qualification. I combined running a private practice treating musculoskeletal injuries alongside a position with a local rugby union team providing evening clinics and match day first aid. I then returned to the fitness industry working at and running Health Clubs in Harrogate.

I studied for my Physiotherapy degree, qualifying with First Class Honours at the University of Bradford. I am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and I treat all types of musculoskeletal complaints using evidence based techniques. 

​

Away from work, I am a big supporter of Harrogate District Swimming Club and as a long suffering swim parent I can regularly be found poolside watching training sessions at 4.45am! Whilst I do have a particular passion for swimming, I love all sports having myself competed at both County and Regional level in various disciplines.

​

Exercise and sport also play a huge part in my life. I swim, cycle and visit the gym regularly. Spending time with my family is important too and along with my wife we spend many a weekend cheering on our daughter, a competitive swimmer, and her teammates at events around the region.
